Many people love taking a walk in the woods, but do you know the names of the trees, fungi, and plants all around you? What about the medicine and food they offer?
Learn how to take the wisdom of the woods home to our backyards and landscapes in ways that benefit our health and the planet. Spend a weekend exploring Omega’s forests and get better acquainted with the nonhuman elements of the land.
Guided by Steve Gabriel, ecologist, educator, and coauthor of Farming the Woods, learn how to observe the forest and find natural patterns to replicate in your own farms, gardens, or yards. Walk the woods to explore trees, plants, and fungi and discover how they support both human and forest health. Learn proper tree planting techniques, how to inoculate shiitake mushroom logs, and how to make medicinal tinctures—and take all of them home with you.
As we connect more deeply with the place we call home, we can regenerate the forest ecosystem of which we’re all a part, impacting our local communities and benefitting the climate.
