Learn to use rustic materials and practices to make practical and “imaginal” artifacts with craftsman Daniel Mack.

Making things is almost as fundamental to our way of being in the world as breathing. Intuitive making is a process, a practice—not an end in itself but rather a way to express and explore less accessible parts of ourselves.

Under the guidance of craftsman and artist Daniel Mack, we use rustic materials and building practices to make both practical and “imaginal” artifacts—such as stools, wood and stone carvings; totems; gifts for people in transitions of all kinds; and fanciful rustic sculptures incorporating bones, feathers, and found objects.

In a casual atmosphere of discovery, sharing, and coincidence, we allow object-making to help us learn about human nature from being with nature. Through short exercises to help us encounter parts of the unconscious, we explore nonverbal ways of handling the stress of change and transition.

$10 materials fee; include when you register. Enrollment is limited for this program.

Family Week

There is something for everyone at Family Week. Workshops for the grownups that teach skills or help you relax or give you a renewed sense of purpose. The schedule is more flexible than at other times so that the most important people in the world—parents—can get a well-deserved rest. And for the kids there are camps that engage their body, mind, and spirit, get them outside on our beautiful campus, help them make friends, and instill the values of cooperation, compassion, and joyful living.

Please note: If you don't have children you may participate in this program, but be advised almost 200 children are on campus, and services and schedules are geared for children and families. Learn More.
