Unlock your authentic creative voice by using playful, off-beat prompts with Jill Badonsky.

Kamikaze, a Japanese word meaning “divine wind,” describes the very essence of this workshop led by Jill Badonsky, a multimedia artist and inspirational humorist. We engage with such gale force as to blow our inner critic away and float on the breeze of creativity.

Fleeting multimedia projections, poetry, music, and offbeat prompts ease you into unlocking an authentic creative voice without overthinking or scaring it away. Perfectionist tendencies and immobilizing self-judgments are effortlessly excused from the room as you experience the freedom of these intuitive techniques for sketching, whimsical painting, and creative writing.

This workshop is designed for all levels of experience, including beginners as well as seasoned writers and artists. It is especially helpful for writers looking to define their voice in an inspiring environment that explores fresh approaches to creativity; those who are having trouble getting started or returning to creativity and need a little structure; and anyone wanting to open up to the fun, flow, and mindfulness that are natural states in the creative process.

Below is a list of materials to bring with you to the course. Faculty will be supplying watercolor paper.

  • A large mix media sketchbook such as Canson Mix Media 11 x 14 or whatever you have that can take water - you will be doing a lot of sketching and you won’t want to do it in a purely watercolor pad
  • Black Micron pens 005 and 05 as well as 01 and thicker – it’s important to this process to have really thin pens – thicker pens won’t have the same effects
  • A thin gel or flair pen that smears with water
  • Watercolors (Something easy like Prang is fine)
  • Good watercolor brushes- round size 10 or 12 (flat ones are optional)
  • Pencil and kneaded erasers
