Dive deep into a rigorous practice of silent meditation, dialogue, and inquiry with the founder of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Jon Kabat-Zinn.

Jon Kabat-Zinn on why sitting in meditation is a radical act of love.

During the retreat, we make use of the circumstances we find ourselves in to develop and/or deepen a robust and at the same time simple and practical mindfulness meditation practice capable of supporting us in the face of the full catastrophe of these times.

The schedule is designed to support all the other waking hours during the retreat day, when you may be engaged with family, work obligations, or other activities—so that life and our mindfulness practice are seen, embraced, and embodied as one seamless whole.

The invitation is to let the entire day and whatever arises within it become “the curriculum” of the retreat, and thus an intimate element of the meditation practice.

In this way, our very brief time together, measured in hours, can nevertheless become a practical and reliable laboratory for investigating how to more effectively navigate the very real ups and downs we are facing. And thus perhaps respond more mindfully to the stress and uncertainty of the times we are in rather than reacting out of fear or anger or exhaustion to those very same circumstances and challenges, which while understandable, is tantamount to losing our minds just when we most need them.

Instead, through the cultivation of mindfulness as a practice and a way of being, we can encourage our minds and hearts to function more effectively for our own benefit and that of our families, our work, our communities, our countries, and our one world.

One powerful element of this retreat will be an intimate sense of engagement with a highly motivated global community. Exchanges between Jon, and retreat participants during periods of dialogue and inquiry will enhance the experience of our interconnectedness and help us focus on real-life approaches to potentially maddening dilemmas, social contradictions and structural injustices, and very real personal and family challenges.
