Reveal the radical love and humanity within you from The Gospel of Mary Magdalene with Meggan Watterson.

The gospel of Mary Magdalene reveals a radical love that sits at the heart of the Christian story. Her gospel says that we are not sinful; we are not to feel ashamed or unworthy for being human. In fact, our purpose is to be fully human, to be a “true human being”—that is, a person who has remembered that we are a messy, limited ego, and also, we are a limitless soul.

And all we need to do is to turn inward (again and again); to meditate, like Mary Magdalene, in the way her gospel directs us, to reach a clarity or singularity of heart that lets us see past the ego of our own little lives to what’s more real, and lasting, and infinite, and already here, within.

Through lecture, discussion, and practice of the Soul-Voice meditation together, we learn about Mary Magdalene as a figure of spiritual authority in the earliest form of Christianity. We discover why her gospel was excluded from the current form of the New Testament, and explore the secret teachings Christ gave to her.

We return home with a deeper understanding of why Mary Magdalene’s teachings are so relevant at this point in time and with an experience of the love Mary’s gospel reveals, a love that changes everything.

All levels of experience with meditation welcome, from expert to beginner.

Faculty recommends that you read the following books in preparation for the course:

  • Mary Magdalene Revealed: The First Apostle, Her Feminist Gospel & the Christianity We Haven’t Tried Yet by Meggan Watterson
  • The Gospel of Mary of Magdala: Jesus and the First Woman Apostle by Karen L. King
  • The Meaning of Mary Magdalene: Discovering the Woman at the Heart of Christianity by Cynthia Bourgeault
