Explore the convergence of photography and mindfulness with Paul Sunday and invite clarity into your creative process with lecture and meditation.

This workshop examines photography as a way toward mindfulness and awareness. We will seek to gain insight into territory where the technologies of image capture allow us to experience freedom and clarity.

In the deluge of our image universe, many photographers are seeking a new relationship with photography. For some of us, it is meaningful to return to the reasons we first became smitten with this form, the essence of image creation, and thoughtful visual attention. Through image-making, meditation instruction, walking meditation, and conversation, we will seek to rediscover and redefine our photographic practices. We will explore what happens when the desire to live a life of mindfulness co-mingles with our love of photography.

Lecture and meditation sessions will take place in the studio, and walking meditation with our cameras will take place on the grounds of Omega. The coursework is suitable for photographers at all levels.

Faculty recommends you read the following book in preparation for the course:

The Zen of Creativity: Cultivating Your Artistic Life by John Daido Loori
