You are invited to join in a weeklong zen sesshin; a retreat of cleansing silence, self inquiry, and deep practice of mindfulness.

You are invited to join in a weeklong zen sesshin; a retreat of cleansing silence, self inquiry, and deep practice of mindfulness. Mindfulness practice has its roots in Eastern meditative and Western Christian contemplative traditions. In this retreat, mindfulness is the practice of awareness of “what is” at the level of direct and immediate experience, separate from concepts, category, and expectations. It is the practice of living awake, with your eyes wide open, in the present.

This retreat provides the opportunity for an extended period of committed meditation, and is intended for those ready for deep practice. Silence is observed with the exception of opening and closing meals, private teacher interviews, and question-and-answer periods. We practice together but do not interact. We separate ourselves from our daily affairs in order to sink deeply into meditative practice, free to transcend the chatter of our busy minds. A brief mindfulness talk is given each morning and a brief open forum is conducted each afternoon.

Led by Randy Wolbert, MSW, Sensei, this retreat is supported by retreat coordinator and room manager (a.k.a. Jisha - Mother of the retreat) Licensed Psychologist Karina Solovieff, and time keeper (a.k.aJiki) Julianne Ballón-Casement LCSW, MSW.

This retreat begins Sunday at 8:00 p.m.
