Discover how the brain plays a role in pain, and explore how ancient practices can help lower pain levels with meditation teacher Christiane Wolf.

Christiane Wolf leads you in a practice of self-compassion for pain.

Chronic pain often reaches into every area of our life. And vice versa, every area of our life can influence the levels of pain that we experience. While signals are coming from the body—the area that is in pain—the brain plays a dominant role in how these signals are interpreted and converted in different levels of pain.

The brain tries to be helpful by becoming better and better at detecting pain. Fortunately, we can also help the brain by retraining it to down-dial the pain experience.

In this weekend workshop with Dr. Christiane Wolf, a mindfulness and meditation teacher in the Insight (Vipassana) tradition, we explore how the ancient practices of mindfulness and compassion can help us to lower pain levels, change our pain perception, and in general deconstruct what we call pain. We also re-awaken and re-claim self-compassion and joy.

Christiane guides you in meditations and reflections, writing prompts, and small and large group discussions to learn about our brain and our pain in a safe, non-judgmental and supported community of fellow travelers on the path to a more fulfilled and joyful life.
