Do you struggle with back pain, yet find floor yoga too demanding? Discover how simple-to-learn, accessible yoga poses can begin to relieve back pain with two joyful teachers whose work has been recognized by the Arthritis Foundation, the International Association of Yoga Therapists, and the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
During this special weekend, IAYT certified yoga therapist Terry Roth Schaff and experienced registered yoga teacher Karen Abramson guide you to use specific yoga postures and props—such as chairs, blankets, blocks, and straps—to treat such widespread ailments as osteoporosis, arthritis, herniated discs, and stenosis. The positive results of Terry's accessible yoga program became the basis of the popular spinal care program at Manhattan Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. It is based on taking classic yoga poses and adapting them to be safely and therapeutically practiced by those with specific back problems.
Through yoga practice, lecture, and discussion, you learn to:
- Use postures and sequences for particular issues, including which ones to exclude
- Develop a deeper understanding of the mechanics of your body
- Modify yoga postures for physical impairments affecting stability, balance, flexibility, and range of motion
- Enjoy your yoga experience safely and comfortably
Terry’s newest book, Medical Yoga Therapy: A Practical Guide for the Yoga & Medical Community is being used as a textbook to train yoga therapists, nurses, and other medical professionals.
