Your voice is your power. Break through your fears and blocks with renegade writer Janelle Hanchett and learn how to get the real you onto the page.

You probably know how to write. But do you know how to get yourself—your real personality—into that writing? You can spend your whole life waiting to overcome fear so you’re finally free to show up authentically on the page—or you can join writer Janelle Hanchett and just cut to the chase.

In this safe, dynamic, and playful workshop, Janelle uses humor, craft, and critical meta-analysis to help you examine and deconstruct that which stands between you and what you really want to write. Through writing prompts and discussion, you work toward defining your unique story, voice, and perspective. You also learn tangible habits and straightforward practices that enable you to let go of outcomes, manage criticism, and bring your complex humanity more fully to your writing so you can connect more deeply with your readers.

Writers of all genres looking to develop a sense of purpose and direction—and forge a new relationship with fear—are welcome.

Faculty recommends you read the following book in preparation for the course:

  • I’m Just Happy to Be Here: A Memoir of Renegade Mothering by Janelle Hanchett

Bring a book you love and a notebook and/or a laptop for writing.
