There aren’t many qigong healing systems we can learn in a weekend. But in this workshop with grandmaster Ken Cohen, we learn the complete Tai Chi Ruler exercises for longevity transmitted by qigong master Zhao Zhongdao (who died at age 118).
In Tai Chi Ruler Qigong, the palms are held about a foot apart, as though holding a foot-long ruler, while turning the hands in specific patterns and making slow rocking movements that increase the body’s supply of life energy. The Ruler grounds us, encourages deep breathing, and generates a strong flow of qi through the torso and hands. Because it makes the hands sensitive and tingling with life force, it may also improve any activity that involves touch—whether massage, the arts, or handshakes.
We also experience seated qigong meditations for relaxation and inner peace. We leave with a deeper understanding of healing energy and practical tools for well-being.
Practitioners of all levels, including beginners, are welcome.
