Oneika Mays, E-RYT, is training director of Liberation Prison Yoga (LPY) and has presented workshops and trainings with the organization since 2015. She came on board in 2014 to teach trauma-conscious yoga to women at Rikers Island. In love with the work, she quickly rose to leadership.
Mays supervises programs in various jails, including a program with incarcerated transgender women, and serves as a board member of LPY. She believes in the idea of living life as a student, consistently learning and sharing ideas with people around her, whether in the LGBTQI community, incarcerated populations, people suffering from cancer or chronic illnesses, or in the corporate world.
Oneika Mays teaches therapeutic yoga and meditation and is a licensed massage therapist. She is a passionate inspiration in her community to take an active role in maintaining optimal health and create sustainable social change.
