The Embodiment of Insight

A 7-Night Silent Retreat With Adyashanti

Oct 05 - Oct 12 2018 Rhinebeck, NY
Join Adyashanti in this silent retreat dedicated to embodying the enlightened condition.

Adyashanti talks about two qualities of awareness.

We all have had moments of deeper understanding, moments when we accessed a deep well of insight and suddenly understood something that formally caused us great confusion, suffering, and conflict. Perhaps we even glimpsed the realm of spiritual awakening and experienced our own true nature. These breakthrough moments can be profoundly transformative, or they can seem to come and go in a flash. But moments of insight also reveal hidden possibilities for the way we can live, act, and move through our day to day life. They present us with the profound challenge of integrating and embodying insight and revelation into our human lives and interactions with others and the world. While the deeper domain of revelation reveals the always and already perfection of being, it also opens us up to a whole world of possibilities if only we can begin to embody our deepest insights and experiences of being into our very human lives.

As paradoxical as it may sound, the spiritual challenge before us is to become what we truly are. That is to become, to bring into incarnate form, our deepest insights and realizations. To bring forth our essential nature as living spirit into our daily lives is to translate the spiritually awakened state into human terms. This is essentially a redemptive act, meaning that by being what we truly are in our day-to-day lives, we participate in returning everything to its natural condition of wholeness, sanity, and love. This is what it means to engage in the process of embodying the enlightened condition, no matter how imperfectly we may do so. Our intention to embody our wiser and more loving insights is itself a beneficial gift to all beings and an act of both personal and collective redemption. Join Adyashanti in this retreat dedicated to embodying the enlightened condition.

Please note:

  • The children’s program is not offered for this retreat. Participants are asked not to bring their children to Omega during the retreat.
  • There will be no refunds once the program has started.
  • Participation requirement: Adyashanti requires that all attendees arrive on time for retreat (4:00-6:00 pm on the first day) and reside on the Omega campus through the end of the retreat (just before lunch on the last day), except for emergencies. Please do not attend if you cannot arrive on time and stay through the end.

More Information

This course is being held in silence, including meals. All participants must reside on the Omega campus during the retreat, must arrive on time (4-6 p.m. on the first day), and must stay through the end of retreat (except for emergencies). This retreat requires parents to come without their children. The retreat begins Friday at 7:00 p.m. and ends Friday at noon. There are no refunds once the retreat has started.

The Retreat Container

A powerful retreat container supports a deep and transformational unfolding into truth. Participants work together to create and nurture this container by maintaining silence and giving themselves to the schedule and structure of the retreat.

Retreat participants are asked to come to the retreat prepared to be fully present, with loose ends tied up at work and at home, completing all business before retreat and making arrangements with loved ones to help maintain the silence. This depth of intention allows an undistracted experience of surrender that is not often possible in daily life.

We also encourage participants to focus on this retreat program only. By not engaging in other classes and activities that Omega offers during this retreat, you will be supporting the depth of silence for each individual and the group as a whole.

The Importance of Silence

This retreat will be held in silence, including breaks and meals, except during satsangs. The outward presence of silence draws attention to inner silence, and beyond—to its Source.

Immersing yourself in silence can bring up issues such as conflicted feelings or perceived needs. When such issues arise, it is especially important to maintain the silence so that these issues can be seen and resolved inwardly in the light of truth. To help keep the spirit of this silence, we ask that no notes be written to the Retreat Manager or passed to other people during the retreat except for emergencies only. Please do not talk with the staff at the retreat site except in emergencies. The Retreat Manager will be available during the announcement periods to address urgent practical matters.

This retreat is your opportunity to dive deeply into the silence and discover the truth of your being, while supporting others to do the same.
