“There are times when the heart flies wide open and we can barely stay in our skin—a refrain of music, the flight of a butterfly, the song of water slipping over rocks,” says Carl Big Heart. “There are also times when deep grief for a loved one so overwhelms us that we have no idea how to hold it. This is the path of the wide open heart.”
During this workshop Carl Big Heart and Stephanie Flanders invite us to open ourselves to ever increasing, expanding, and profound love and to find peace through our exposed tender heart.
We unite in ceremonies—including sweat lodge, water, pipe, talking stick, and men and women’s circles—that move in us and become living ceremonies, offering us life tools to bring ceremony into every moment. Guided by the spirit within, we learn to trust the wisdom of the heart and engage the sacred in our lives.
Thursday afternoon there will be a sweat lodge, an ancient ceremony of purification. It is not imperative that you enter the sweat lodge to participate in the ceremony. Sitting beside the fire outside is a place for prayer and is connected to the whole. The lodge will be introduced with time for questions before the ceremony begins.
There may also be optional extended hours on an additional afternoon and early morning.
