The Trust Technique is based on the theory that deepening the connection between humans and animals can transform the lives of both. It uses mindfulness and focused presence techniques as a basis for resolving problems for humans and for pets or other animals.
Daily practice of the Trust Technique creates a shared peace of mind and reduces anxious over-thinking—one of the main causes for so-called “behavioral problems” in pets and humans. This dynamic approach does not objectify animals, but rather recognises all animals as sentient equals and transcends an unhealthy approach of dominance or control. Humans and other animals work in trusted cooperation, which leads to more truthful communication and manifests in shared well-being.
Through talks, demonstrations, and practice sessions (including time spent with rescue dogs, sheep, and horses), we learn the core concepts of the Trust Technique and develop true comfort and confidence with animals. We also develop a daily therapeutic practice we can share with animal companions in our life—including sensitive animals or animals that have lost trust with humans.
This workshop offers practical skills for those who care for animals, including veterinarians, animal practitioners and rescuers, and those who live with pets or simply have a love of animals.
Enrollment is limited for this program; register early. Upon registration your contact information will be shared with French and Slingo so they can be in touch with you prior to the workshop.
Please note: This week’s class at Omega is an experiential training, however it does not count towards achieving a Trust Technique diploma. Please see the Trust Technique website for further details.
Please download and review this Film Release. Portions of the workshop will be videotaped for educational purposes. Please complete this form and bring it with you on the first day of the program.

Things To Bring
The off-site demonstration only field-trip to Lucky Orphans Horse Rescue (see Schedule below) will take place outdoors, rain or shine, and may require walking, so the faculty asks that you bring the following with you to the course:
- Clothing to layer, as October weather is unpredictable and can range from warm to cold
- Comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes
- Hat with a brim
- Long pants
- Water bottle
- Optional: Portable chair
- There may be long periods of time when you will be standing, so you may want to bring a portable lightweight chair that you can carry, if that will be more comfortable for you.
