As toddlers we learned to walk through a process of trial and error that was chaotic and haphazard. Along the way, we developed habits of movement that aren’t very elegant or efficient—and might now cause us pain.
Luckily, it’s never too late to relearn this essential skill. This weekend we explore how to walk with greater comfort, power, and ease with the Feldenkrais Method®, a way of learning that uses movement to enhance self-awareness, improve function, and relieve pain.
Guided by Anastasi Siotas and Jenn Brown, we reconstruct the basics of walking using Feldenkrais® Awareness Through Movement® lessons both in the classroom and outside on Omega’s campus. As we learn new ways to move, we shed years of unproductive habits and improve our posture, balance, and coordination.
No previous experience is necessary. Anyone looking to have more energy and vitality for walking and more comfort and ease for the upright activities of daily life is welcome.
