What Are You Hungry For?

Mindful Eating for a Well-Nourished Life

Jun 24 - Jun 29 2018 Rhinebeck, NY

Find a healthy, peaceful relationship with food and learn to nourish your whole self in everyday living.

Are you well nourished? Not just your body, but in all aspects of your life? Or do you hunger for something more? Many people use food to nourish themselves when other forms of sustenance are what they really need.

In this workshop for women with mindfulness-based nutritionist Andrea Lieberstein, learn how to bring your relationship with food into balance and discover what nourishment is for you. Through meditation, walking and movement exercises, gentle yoga, journaling, and creative practices, you explore how lovingkindness, self-compassion, and awareness of nature can feed you on so many levels in life. You learn powerful practices that help you find an inner sense of nourishment, even when your life is not perfectly in balance. By involving all the senses and engaging both the mind and body when you eat, you begin to experience food as pleasure and nutrition while intuitively finding the right amount and quality.

Return home with an understanding of the eight aspects of yourself that flourish when nourished, along with new skills and a plan to nourish your whole self in everyday life.

Upon completion of the program, participants will be able to:

  • Describe how mindful inquiry helps us identify our true needs.
  • Summarize the five-step process to mindful eating and living.
  • Describe four inner nourishment/mindfulness practices such as mindfulness meditation, mindful self-compassion, and lovingkindness practice.
  • Describe four outer nourishment support practices.
  • Summarize six mindful eating practices.
  • Explain how to motivate successful change with intention setting, values and mindfulness
  • Summarize the benefits of the Mindful Check In.
  • Summarize one evidence-based skill or tool to nourish each of the eight “bodies” or aspects of the whole self.
  • Identify three mindfulness or lifestyle practices that can positively impact health and well-being.
  • Describe the role of creative expressive arts in healing and insight.
  • Describe the role of ecotherapy and nature awareness in healing and insight.
  • Describe a plan based on behavioral science, neuroscience and mindfulness to nourish one’s whole self.

This course is designed for mental health professionals with a beginner-advanced knowledge base in this field.
