Gain the tools, advice, and perspective you need to break into the transformational nonfiction publishing market with book editor Kelly Notaras.

Do you have a book in you, just waiting to come into form? Are you yearning to get unstuck? Kickstart—or reignite—the writing journey with the confidence you need to get your physical manuscript in hand.

This 5-day immersion with longtime book editor and writing coach Kelly Notaras provides both instruction and inspiration—explaining everything you need to know about breaking into the transformational nonfiction market, as well as providing plenty of time to drop in, write, and revise. Establish the daily habit of writing and sustain productive sessions for hours. Hone your “hook”—a book’s north star—so it’s both saleable and magnetic. Learn to navigate a variety of publishing options and gain insights about whether to start with a proposal or a full-length manuscript. Receive support from an expert who has edited books for Hay House, Sounds True, HarperCollins, Penguin, and Hyperion Books.

Whether you’re just starting out or already have a draft underway, this workshop is the next step toward making your book dream a reality.

Faculty asks that you read the following book in preparation for the course:

  • The Book You Were Born to Write: Everything You Need to (Finally) Get Your Wisdom onto the Page and into the World by Kelly Notaras

Faculty recommends the following books for further study:

  • Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life by Anne Lamott
  • On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft by Stephen King

Bring a laptop or paper and pen/pencil (if preferred), a journal, and a copy of The Book You Were Born to Write (optional) with you to the course.
