Trauma survivor Anneke Lucas discusses her personal story and why trauma-conscious yoga matters.

As a trauma survivor, do you wish for a yoga practice that keeps you safe and meets your needs? Anneke Lucas, a survivor of sex slavery and advocate for sex trafficking victims, created the trauma-sensitive Unconditional Model that explores yoga in its greatest capacity to (re)connect the mind with the body and the greater self with the mind.

In a safe environment, you learn to take full ownership of your practice, use movement to stimulate SSRI inhibitors to help with depression, and incorporate practices for soothing self-care. You also learn specific mindfulness tools to drastically increase self-acceptance and take healing into your own hands.

Apart from survivors, yoga teachers and other providers are also welcome to learn to create an environment to reduce potential triggers and how to deal with incidents that may be triggering. Everything in the workshop is optional. All levels are welcome.
