Bruce Patterson

Bruce Patterson, MSW, LCSW, is a psychotherapist specializing in the energy psychologies, an EMDRIA approved consultant in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a certified Focusing Trainer, and a Reconnective Healing practitioner. He served as director of the world’s first AIDS hotline in New York City, after which he chronicled his experiences there in a New York Times op-ed piece, “Twelve Years of Farewells,” and in a piece in the Peter Jennings book, The Century.

Bruce Patterson has taught at Hunter and City College and is a recipient of the Diego Lopez Award for Outstanding Service to People with AIDS given by the National Association of Social Workers. As a volunteer trauma specialist, he treated his fellow New Yorkers in the wake of September 11th, 2001, and Superstorm Sandy, and first responders in New Orleans following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
