Barbara Tannenbaum

Barbara Tannenbaum, PhD, is a senior lecturer in theater arts and performance studies at Brown University.

A sought-after keynote speaker, Tannenbaum combines academic foundations in persuasive communications with entertaining stories about how to employ tools of effective presentation. 

Her skills as a teacher, lecturer, and seminar leader have earned her an international clientele consisting of doctors, lawyers, state supreme and appellate court judges, politicians, and community and organization leaders.

Tannenbaum has advised and conducted public speaking workshops with the Third World Transition Program and with the Women in Science and Engineering group at Brown. She has also worked with nationally prominent nonprofit and for-profit organizations, including the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and Yahoo!.

She has received numerous awards, including the Barrett Hazeltine Citation from Brown University in 2004; the Brown University Undergraduate Council of Students Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2004; and the John Rowe Workman Award for Excellence in Teaching in the Humanities from Brown University in 2003.
