Daniel Paul

Fulbright award-winning tabla drummer Daniel Paul has played a lifetime of world music with many diverse artists who share his love for the sacred music of India. From the strictly classical musicians and dancers of the Ali Akbar College of Music, to the modern techno-laced chants of Lost at Last, and now accompanying the driving (kirtan) vocals of Grammy nominee Jai Uttal, Paul continues to teach and tour worldwide, introducing new audiences to the ecstatic rhythms of the tabla.

A past graduate and instructor of the Ali Akbar College of Music, for nine years Daniel Paul immersed himself exclusively in the classical music of India’s legendary maestros, including Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, Sri Zakir Hussain, Sri Jnan Ghosh, and Sri Swapan Chauduri. As a composer and recording artist, Daniel Paul has contributed to many diverse projects using his rare melodic drum set (tabla tarong) and has released three of his own CDs Rhythms of Paradise, Between Two Worlds, and Elephant Prayers.
