Dinabandhu Sarley

Dinabandhu Sarley is a cofounder, along with his wife, Ila Sarley, of the Natural Yoga™ system for self-development, and coauthor, with Ila, of Walking Yoga and The Essentials of Yoga.

A leader in the field of spirituality and human development for 35 years, Sarley has served in key leadership positions in the two largest and most successful holistic educational centers in the United States, Omega Institute and Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health.

Sarley left his position as the chief executive officer of Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in December 2010, having returned to that organization after nine years (1995 to 2004) as president of Omega Institute. He led a renewal of vision, mission, and business development at Kripalu with his wife, Ila, who was Kripalu’s president, from 2004 through 2010.

Early in his life at Kripalu, Sarley lived as a yoga monastic for 20 years and was a key member in developing many of the resident instruction programs at the time. He developed and taught several thousand hours of resident education, covering nearly every aspect of yoga in the areas of bhakti, karma, mantra, jnana, raja, and hatha yoga traditions.

Sarley has studied with yoga masters, swamis, and teachers from India and the United States, as well as physicians, physiologists, physical therapists, psychologists, and organizational and communications experts. He also has studied various traditions of yoga, including Kripalu, Iyengar, Bikram, Ashtanga, and Kundalini yoga, and he incorporates the principles of each into his teaching.

A speaker and workshop leader in the areas of yoga, spirituality in the workplace, organizational development, and the yoga of leadership, Dinabandhu Sarley consults with organizations, where he applies his spiritual and developmental insights.

Dinabandhu and Ila Sarley are currently partners of Sarley Consulting.
