Hank Wesselman

We are saddened by the loss of Hank Wesselman, PhD, a special teacher and longtime friend to Omega, who passed away in February 2021. Hank's workshops at Omega drew upon his knowledge as an anthropologist, and were designed to educate and encourage individuals to rediscover the visionary within themselves.

Hank Wesselman, PhD, was author of nine books on shamanism, including the best-selling Spiritwalker trilogy: Spiritwalker: Messages from the Future; Medicinemaker: Mystic Encounters on the Shaman’s Path; and Visionseeker: Shared Wisdom from the Place of Refuge. He was also author of The Journey to the Sacred Garden and The Bowl of Light: Ancestral Wisdom from a Hawaiian Shaman, coauthor of Awakening to the Spirit World, Spirit Medicine, and The Re-Enchantment: A Shamanic Path to a Life of Wonder.

Wesselman earned his undergraduate and master’s degrees in zoology at the University of Colorado at Boulder, then went on to receive his doctoral degree in anthropology from the University of California at Berkeley. Since 1971, he worked with an international group of scientists, exploring East Africa’s Great Rift Valley in search of answers to the mystery of human origins.

A lifelong "shaman-in-training," Hank will best be remembered for helping people reconnect to their inner sources of wisdom, power, and healing.

“My presentations and workshops draw on my knowledge as an anthropologist and are designed to educate and encourage individuals to rediscover the visionary within themselves,” he says. "I utilize the ancient, time-tested ways of the mystic to facilitate each person’s process and to reconnect them to their inner sources of wisdom, power, and healing."
