Richard P. Brown

Richard P. Brown, MD, an associate professor of clinical psychiatry at Columbia University and leader in complementary and alternative medicine, combines traditional pharmacology with herbal medicine, yoga, and breathing to treat stress, anxiety, depression, and PTSD. 

As a certified teacher of the Japanese martial art Aikido (4th Dan), yoga, qigong, and Open Focus meditation, Dr. Brown teaches his Breath~Body~Mind workshops to a variety of individuals, including health care professionals, yoga therapists, military groups, and survivors of mass disasters.
 
Dr. Brown is author and coauthor of more than 100 scientific articles and books, including Stop Depression Now, The Rhodiola Revolution, and “Complementary and Alternative Treatments in Psychiatry,” in the textbook Psychiatry.
