Since 2006, Robin Carnes, MBA, E-RYT 500, has served as the yoga and iRest® (short for “Integrative Restoration”) instructor for a Department of Defense (DOD) post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) treatment program, and was the lead instructor in the first DOD feasibility study of yoga nidra meditation for post-traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD) symptoms. She continues to bring mind-body healing and the military together in a growing number of ways, including presenting at numerous military health-care conferences and cofounding Warriors at Ease, where she is the executive director.

Warriors at Ease trains certified yoga and meditation teachers to work safely and effectively in military communities affected by combat-related stress. Carnes is also one of the founding members of the Military Mind-Body Health Consortium, an organization focused on bringing the power of mind-body healing to military communities and health-care. A well-recognized leader and innovator in her field, she and has been featured in the Washington Post and Yoga Journal, and on Defense.gov.

Robin Carnes began her career as a management consultant and trainer to several companies, including AT&T, Discovery Channel, and Staples for more a decade. She left the corporate world in 1995 to pursue her lifelong interest in mind-body healing and went on to be certified as an iRest® yoga nidra meditation instructor and a yoga teacher. She also launched and managed for 10 years a successful volunteer program at a women’s shelter in Washington, D.C. She is the author of Sacred Circles: A Guide to Creating Your Own Women’s Spirituality Group and has produced three meditation CDs.
