High-Energy Spirulina Breakfast Smoothie

Need a breakfast smoothie recipe that will give you a boost? Try this one featuring spirulina, a type of blue-green algae. Spirulina is a good source of protein, trace minerals, and other nutrients that are easy for your body to digest and assimilate.

Ingredients

  • 1 banana, frozen for an extra thick smoothie
    1/2 cup blueberries, frozen
    1 egg yolk or 1 tablespoon protein powder
    1 tablespoon spirulina
    1 tablespoon flax seeds, ground
    10 almonds
    3/4 cup coconut yogurt (or nut/seed milk)

Directions

  1. Place all ingredients into a blender and blend tighter until well combined.
