Joe Cross is filmmaker of the documentary Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead and founder and chief executive officer of Reboot with Joe, which makes tools, information, and support available to enable anyone to reclaim their well-being.
Cross’s Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead has been seen by nearly 5 million people. The documentary chronicles the journey Cross made in the United States as he lost more than 80 pounds, cured himself of a chronic illness, and helped change countless lives along the way. His secret: consuming only fruit and vegetable juice for 60 days.
“The film is my story—the story of how by the age of 40 I found myself professionally successful but physically bankrupt: fat, sick, and nearly dead,” Cross says. He says he “tipped the scales” at more 300 pounds. Additionally, he says, he had an autoimmune disease that no doctor could diagnose and he took prescription medication for eight years. “I would swell up and break out into hives on any part of my body that was subject to pressure, from a hand shake, or sitting on a chair, or lying in a bed.”
One day he decided to change his life and to document the journey he was about to embark on. The result is Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead. Since releasing the documentary, Cross has coached thousands of people through his online community and has been featured on television and in print as America’s face of juicing.
