Shelley Berc is a playwright, novelist, and creativity expert. She is cofounder of The Creativity Workshop, which teaches people from all professions and walks of life how to access, nurture, and expand their creativity. 

Berc is coauthor of Jumpstart Your Creativity in 15 Minutes a Day and author of the novels The Shape of Wilderness and Light and Shadow.

Her theater pieces have starred many notable actors, including Patrick Stewart, Stanley Tucci, and Tony Shalhoub. Her plays have been performed at the American Repertory Theatre, the Yale Repertory Theater, the Seattle Repertory Theater, and Classic Stage Company, among others.

Berc's numerous awards include a McKnight Fellowship, two Lila Wallace Readers Digest Writers Awards, a Bellagio Fellowship, a National Theatre Artists Residency, and an Outer Critics Circle nomination for best off-Broadway play.

A former professor in the University of Iowa’s International Writing Program and the Iowa Playwrights Workshop, she is one of the first women to graduate from Amherst College.
