Omega Institute The Power of Unplugging
Why You May Want to Try a "Digital Detox"
If you are interested in being more productive at work, having better relationships, sleeping soundly, and having a slimmer waistline, it might be time to unplug. Research now confirms what many of us suspected—the convenience of our mobile devices comes with an energy-draining price. The good news is we can reclaim our energy by unplugging, whether it be for a few hours before bed, the whole weekend, or longer. More
Omega Institute 6 Affirmations of Personal Freedom By Paul Williams & Tracey Jackson
The six affirmations we offer are useless if you don’t employ them vigorously and often. At best, they’ll become lovely little sayings worthy of a needlepoint pillow. To make them effective tools in reconstructing the way you live your life, you’ll need to make them as much a part of your day as your toothbrush, razor, or morning run. More
Omega Institute All You Need is Love by James Van Praagh
Life Beyond the 5 Senses
Most of the people who come to my lectures want to see me make contact with the consciousness of those who no longer inhabit this physical dimension, but I always give them a healthy dose of what really matters: the truth that there is no "death" and that what we believe about our lives on Earth—about this being our true nature—is just an illusion. We are eternal souls that have no beginning and no end, but while we're incarnated in this physical dimension, we are only aware of now. More
Omega Institute Reliance House Brings Mindfulness to Veterans

The translator was laughing so hard he could not speak. He seemed to have heard the funniest thing in his life. We were all waiting for the English version of what Ogyen Trinley Dorje, the Tibetan Buddhist leader known as the 17th Karmapa, had said. The monastery up in Woodstock, New York, is the Karmapa's North American base. He was here on his second visit to the U.S. on April 18. The translator, Lama Yeshe Gyamtso, tried to compose himself, but without much success. He finally seemed to find his center, then after taking about two breaths, he burst into laughter again. More
Omega Institute Bring More Mindfulness to Your Writing
Writing is a practice that requires both focus and imagination. Writers must paint details on the page that translate abstract ideas from their mind into readable stories and content. Poet Robert Bly once said, “If we want to create art we have to stitch together the inner world and the outer world.” Mindfulness, which is defined as paying attention to our moment-to-moment experience with nonjudgmental awareness, can do just that. Omega Institute Sustaining Your Passion
Passion is an ongoing, living process that needs to be reignited on a regular basis. Not surprisingly, most of the elements that sustain passion are precisely the same ongoing practices that sustain quality of life in general. In particular, there are five practices I can describe that will help you sustain passion, regardless of your environment.  Engage in a Spiritual Practice More
Omega Institute Mindful Eating Offers Hope to Diabetics & Binge Eaters
Mindful eating is a practice, not a diet. It doesn't offer recipes, menu plans, or lists of allowed and restricted foods. Instead, it asks you to use all your senses, take breaths between bites, and bring more awareness to the process of eating. More
Omega Institute Parenthood Is a River of Worry & Love By Elizabeth Lesser
If you would like to be broken open—if you want to pursue a Phoenix Process of the highest order—I would recommend raising children. Parenthood is a clumsy yet majestic dance in the flames. When you parent you fall in love with a person who is always changing into someone else, and whom you know will leave you. Yet most parents will say that they have never given themselves to anyone as fully as they have to their children. Parenting is a career with the crazy-making job requirement of simultaneously surrendering to and letting go of someone you love, over and over and over again. More
