Andrea Kantrowitz, EdD, an artist and educator, has lectured and led workshops on art and cognition internationally. She is the author of Drawing Thought: How Drawing Helps Us Observe, Discover, and Invent
 
Andrea holds a doctorate in art and cognitive studies from Columbia University, a master of fine arts degree from Yale University, and a bachelor of art degree from Harvard University. She is the director of the Art Education Program at the State University of New York at New Paltz. 
 
As a teaching artist in New York City for many years, she was involved in research that demonstrated the positive impact of art for students growing up in poverty. Her paintings have been exhibited nationally.
