Karen K. Moon, LCSW, is a psychotherapist specializing in grief and loss stemming from death, divorce, or life’s many challenges. She has worked for more than 30 years with individuals, families, and organizations. In her private practice, she draws upon family systems theory, positive psychology, mindfulness and Buddhist teachings. She leads retreats focused on assisting women as they move through life’s stages. She also consults with businesses and schools on mental health issues and has been an expert guest on podcasts including Kelly Corrigan Wonders and Molly Carroll’s Cracking Open. 
 
Karen started her career as an employee assistance counselor for the investment bank, Merrill Lynch. She counseled employees affected by significant traumas such as the Oklahoma City bombing, the school shootings at Columbine High School, and employees and families impacted by the events of 9/11. She served on the board of directors at Peter’s Place, Center for Grieving Children and Families for 14 years and is cofounder and facilitator of a weekly adolescent girls therapy group, Safe Space for Girls.  
 
She has a master of social work degree from the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis and a bachelor of science in individual and family studies from Pennsylvania State University.
