Omega Names Veronica Fitzgerald Development Director

Former Vice President for Development at Albany Medical Center to Head Omega’s Development Efforts

RHINEBECK, NY – Veronica Fitzgerald, an experienced leader in fundraising, development, and campaign planning has been named development director of the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies, based in Rhinebeck, New York. Fitzgerald, former vice president for development at Albany Medical Center, most recently has worked as a consultant in development and executive search with Storbeck/Pimentel & Associates, a firm that specializes in higher education.

“We are pleased that Veronica Fitzgerald will be joining our leadership team,” said Robert “Skip” Backus, chief executive officer at Omega. “Veronica has the skills necessary to lead our Development Team into a new stage of growth. Her expertise and passion for holism will play a vital role in Omega’s progress over the years to come.”

Veronica comes to Omega with more than 25 years of fundraising experience. She has held several leadership roles in the advancement division at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, including director of corporate and foundation relations and associate director of development for information systems. Her expertise spans several areas of fundraising and development including campaign planning and implementation, major giving and gift planning, corporate and foundation relations, annual fundraising, and special events. She sits on the board of Parks and Trails NY, and remains active with the Hudson Mohawk chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She is a 10-year practitioner of yoga, and enjoys many outdoor activities.

Veronica holds a bachelor’s degree in communication arts from SUNY Plattsburgh and a master's degree in English from the University at Albany. She lives in Troy, NY, with her husband Gordon Kaedy, a teacher at Averill Park High School, and their two children, Devin and Gareth.
