Janne Larsen is a Los Angeles–based artist and educator whose work explores the intersection of art, ecology, and community. Drawing from her upbringing on a small farm where everything was grown, made, or mended by hand, she creates botanical inks, naturally dyed materials, and small-batch wines that reflect the landscape and people of her region.
Her practice begins outdoors—gathering plants, fruits, and minerals that tell stories of place—and continues in the studio, where she transforms these elements into color, texture, and taste. Janne’s project Inks and Drinks connects people to local ecology through workshops that blend artmaking with plant knowledge and collective care. Participants learn to see the natural world as a collaborator and teacher, crafting with what grows nearby while fostering stewardship and community healing.
A longtime teaching artist and former program director, Janne brings a deep understanding of creative education and the power of shared experience. Her work celebrates sustainability, reciprocity, and beauty found in the everyday. Through her art and gatherings, she invites others to slow down, connect with their surroundings, and rediscover the magic within the plants that sustain us.
