Jenny Santa Maria is a teaching artist and art coach from Farmingdale, New Jersey who has guided thousands of people through the creative act of “writing” eggs—a tradition that ranks among the oldest on earth. Her batik egg work has been celebrated in publications such as The Wall Street Journal. With over a decade of experience, she has taught pysanky throughout New England, and has led workshops at renowned venues, including the Brattleboro Art Museum, Newport Art Museum, Chapel of Sacred Mirrors, and Grounds for Sculpture.
While the eggs themselves are ephemeral, Jenny believes the true art lies in sharing the process and preserving this meditative folk tradition. Her thoughtfully designed workshops foster a sense of shared humanity, inviting participants to celebrate cultural heritage through hands-on creation. Participants leave not only with a deeper appreciation for the art, culture, and history but also with a richer understanding of themselves and their own creative potential.
