Melissa Kim Corter, PhD, is a depth psychologist, author, educator, and host of the podcast The Shadow Psychologist™. Her work explores the hidden dimensions of the psyche through Jungian psychology, shadow work, forensics, fairy tales, and mythology. She earned her doctorate in depth psychology with an emphasis in Jungian and archetypal studies, where her research focused on archetypal patterns, the cultural shadow, and the ways unconscious material reveals itself through story, symbol, and behavior.
As a curious and unusually intuitive child, Melissa Kim Corter was fascinated with other people’s basements. Dark, unexplored spaces enthralled her, and her insatiable curiosity about the hidden dimensions of the psyche led to decades of exploring its shadow aspects. That fascination evolved into decades of studying the shadow and darkness. Melissa is the author of Apothecary for the Afflicted: Shadow Work for Invisible Wounds and Esoterica: The Shadow Worker’s Codex, and host of The Shadow Psychologist™ podcast. Her writing and teaching weave mythology, fairy tales, symbolic analysis, and forensic psychology to illuminate the hidden patterns that shape human behavior. She also completed interdisciplinary studies in journalism through New York University, strengthening her investigative approach to storytelling and research.
Melissa has led workshops, courses, and experiential programs for intimate groups and audiences of thousands, inviting participants to engage the symbolic language of the psyche through imagination and reflective inquiry.
