Melissa Spamer has been exploring the world of healing arts for more than 30 years, facilitating classes, retreats, groups and seeing private clients. Melissa is a yoga teacher, bodyworker, and Ayurvedic practitioner and holds a master’s degree in counseling psychology as well as a graduate certificate in holistic healthcare. She has accumulated thousands of hours in yoga, body and energy work, Ayurveda, and psychotherapy training around the world.
Melissa completed her first certification to teach yoga with the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centers. Her primary influences are from decades of study with such revered teachers as TKV Desikachar, Angela Farmer, and Rama Jyoti Vernon. Her teaching style incorporates knowledge of alignment, therapeutics, somatics, and fluid mobility, as well as interweaving the mystical arts of yoga as an evolutionary path of awakening. She has lived, traveled, and worked on six continents, and this global perspective informs her life and teaching in every way.
As someone who has navigated a myriad of severe health challenges, including an aggressive form of cancer, Melissa prides herself in offering an authentic, genuine, and honest yoga practice that encourages our whole selves to be welcomed to the mat. Melissa’s healing journey is what inspired her quest to help others find their way toward more embodied and empowered living.
