Sheila Magalhaes is the owner of Heartsong Yoga and a seasoned yoga instructor with extensive training and experience. She completed her first Kripalu certification in 1993, followed by the Kripalu 500-hour Advanced Professional certification. She also holds advanced certification in classical Ashtanga Yoga from Beryl Bender’s The Hard & The Soft Yoga Institute, where she now serves as a faculty member. In 2021, Sheila further deepened her practice by completing “Soul School,” a 200-hour immersion with Wild Lotus Yoga, focusing on bhakti yoga’s mythology, music, and poetry.

As a certified yoga therapist, Sheila has furthered her education in Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, Mindful Yoga Therapy, and training in Give Back Yoga Foundation’s Yoga & Recovery Symposiums. She is passionate about creating a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment at Heartsong Yoga. In her classes and one-on-one sessions, she employs a trauma-sensitive approach with heart-centered and supportive language. In 2024 she developed Freedom Yoga, a program designed to support those in recovery, their loved ones, and allies.
