Tom Holmes, PhD, has been an Internal Family Systems (IFS) teacher integrating IFS and spirituality for 35 years. He trained in IFS Therapy with Richard Schwartz in the early 1990s and has been teaching, training, and using the IFS model ever since. His specialty is integrating spirituality into the therapeutic process. Tom has been on a universalist spiritual path for 45 years beginning as a long-time student of Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan. This path also included many years learning the Dances of Universal Peace from Neil Douglas Klotz and studying Buddhist psychology with Thich Nhat Hanh.
Tom is the author of Parts Work: An Illustrated Guide to Your Inner Life, which has sold more than 100,000 books worldwide and has been translated into eight languages.
For the past 25 years, Tom has been offering training in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. His workshops focus on the integration of IFS and spirituality and burnout prevention or “Healing the Healer,” for a range of healthcare professionals.
In Tom’s new book, Parts Work: A Path of the Heart: Healing Journeys Integrating IFS and Spirituality, he takes an in-depth look at the integration of IFS and spirituality into the therapeutic process. Tom is Professor Emeritus at Western Michigan University (WMU). He has been training graduate and postgraduate students in psychotherapy since 1985 and has served as the director of WMU’s Holistic Health Program.
