Bob Bloom began his studies of African drumming with Babatunde Olatunji in 1983 at the Omega Institute.

In 1985, Bloom was appointed as a faculty assistant to Olatunji for his Language of the Drums workshops at Omega, a position he held for 18 years.

Bloom performed on djun-djun with Olatunji’s troupe, Drums of Passion, in concerts at venues including Lincoln Center, New York Towne Hall, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and The Washington Monument.

In 1997, Bloom received certification as A Master Teaching Artist from The Connecticut Office of the Arts.
