Helema Kadir

Helema Kadir is the fabric artist in residence at Omega Institute, where she has facilitated Peace Quilt projects with Omega staff since 2005. Five of her quilt projects have been exhibited in the Godwin-Ternbach Museum at Queens College. Her work has also received mention in Quilter’s Home magazine.

A former member of the Empire Quilters Guild, Helema Kadir has led various quilting workshops, including projects at the Eleanor Roosevelt Center at Val-Kill as part of their Girls’ Leadership Workshop; a Peace Quilt project with graduate students in the art education program at Queens College; and a four-week workshop in fabric art banners and prayer flags and a full-day intensive honoring grief and loss through fabric art (co-led with therapist Melinda Saltzman) at Omega Institute.
