Woman writing in her journal

Access your creative voice and inspire brave, deep, and revelatory awakenings on the page with best-selling author Cheryl Strayed.

Cheryl Strayed reflects on how writing about life's hardest moments can help transform pain into power.

In this popular creative writing workshop, best-selling author Cheryl Strayed shares the most essential lessons she’s learned about how to write stories that are brave, deep, revelatory, and crackling with life. In a series of lectures and writing prompts, we explore the power of vulnerability and fearlessness in writing, the importance of delving beneath the surface by writing with a depth of consciousness, and the artistic energy that’s created when we write vividly about our senses and the world we and our characters inhabit.

Cheryl shares truths about the struggle and agony of writing, and also the joy and profound delight of telling the stories we long to tell. She gives practical advice about how to grapple with the challenges writers face and shares lots of craft advice too—about how to make our sentences sing, how to begin to think about structuring our stories, and how to make every word matter.

This workshop, which is offered both in person and via livestream, is emphatically for writers at all levels of experience—whether you’re a published author or a writer with a book in progress, or simply interested in using writing as a private form of self-expression. Those who’ve taken this workshop previously will find some material repeated and other things that are new and different.

Wild Awakenings is about deep, fun, serious, profound, empowering, heart-expanding creativity. Cheryl hopes that by the end, you feel uplifted and inspired by the power of your own beautiful stories, awakened to new directions your writing might take, and more committed to and courageous in deepening your writing practice.

This workshop will be available both in person and via livestream. Livestream details will be posted soon.
