Alixa García is a Colombian-born, globally raised, multidisciplinary artist, award-winning poet, climate organizer, and filmmaker. She is a published author, exhibited visual artist, facilitator, and cultural strategist.
Her performances and keynotes have taken her around the globe, from South Africa to Mexico, the UK to Cuba, and beyond. She has presented at hundreds of universities, conferences, and festivals, including Harvard University, the United Nations, and TEDx: Ideas Worth Spreading.
With a 23-year background in community organizing, artistic and popular education, and creative strategies for social movements, Alixa is a decolonial and creative somatic facilitator and international speaker. Her expertise has supported justice leaders, scholars, students, activists, organizations, and public-sector partners in realizing their potential in creative blueprinting, translocal and global organizing, and environmental education. Her unique approach centralizes art for movement building and the role of imagination as an essential tool for liberation.
As a visual artist, her work has been exhibited in major museums and public spaces, including Times Square, The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, and the Kunsthal KAdE museum, Netherlands, among others. Alixa’s work has been published by Whit Press, North Atlantic Books, AK Press, and Hachette Book Group. Through multifaceted artistry, she continues to inspire and drive action for thriving and just futures.
