Rae Gomes is based in Brooklyn where she writes, mothers, and organizes food justice and food equity initiatives–locally and nationally. As cofounder of Central Brooklyn Food Coop and leadership team member of the National Black Food and Justice Alliance, she applies her deep understanding of historical and current food systems to create meaningful change.

With a master's in creative nonfiction, her work appears in Civil Eats, Next City, and the Land, Food, and Freedom Journal (among others). Through her venture, Cultivating Justice LLC, Rae develops community-driven solutions like Root To Wellness, a food-as-medicine project bringing subsidized CSA programs to Central Brooklyn. Her expertise makes her a valued consultant and speaker for organizations addressing race and food justice issues.
