Vandorn Hinnant began his formal studies of sacred geometry in 1989 under the auspices of The Practical Science Institute. Robert L. Powell, Sr., a retired establishment physicist and director of the institute, was teaching what he had labeled “The 12 Pages” and Vandorn attended a workshop he was conducting on this subject.
His reintroduction to the use of a circle-drawing compass catapulted him into a creative frenzy, during which he began creating a body of work informed by his newly acquired interest in and enthusiasm for sacred geometry. A short time after this, he reactivated his lifelong interest in sculpture and began to design works informed by his studies of the geometry that were to become commissioned public art.
Vandorn coauthored, with Robert L. Powell Sr. and Jr., The REST of Euclid: An Ancient Architecture of Arithmetic and the Modern Theory of Number; a treatise devoted to computing visual fractal-number relationships in a two-dimensional plane.
His art is in numerous public and private art collections, several museum collections, and some works are in Europe and Africa. He is also the author of LOVE… Opera House of The Soul: A Book of Musings.
