The Art of Place with Elena Agostinis & Toby Israel

Turn the ordinary into extraordinary, design from within your personal psychology, and create home spaces that support your creativity and authentic growth.

Artist Elena Agostinis invites you to explore how ordinary objects can be transformed into the extraordinary in her online workshop 5 Houses on the Wild Side.

In this two-part Omega Teachers Studio, explore the transformative power of creativity and place with graphic designer Elena Agostinis, who invites you to see the extraordinary in the everyday, and Design Psychology founder Toby Israel, PhD who reveals how the spaces that shape us can inspire the spaces we create.

5 Houses on the Wild Side: How to Convert Ordinary Into Extraordinary—7:00-8:00 p.m. ET (4:00-5:00 p.m. PT)

What happens when you give your imagination permission to run wild? Join graphic designer Elena Agostinis live online for a playful journey through some of the unusual installations she has created in her homes over the years—transforming everyday objects and spaces into visually extraordinary experiences.

Don’t miss this opportunity to awaken your creativity, expand your sense of possibility, and trust the courage to express yourself freely and boldly. Creativity and freedom are already within us, she says. They are woven into our capacity for joy, love, wonder, and adventure and sometimes all they need is a little space to come alive.

Growing up in a small South African village, with little to inspire a young child and no television until the mid-1970s, Elena discovered early that imagination could turn the ordinary into both inspiration and entertainment. That creative spark never left her.

Join us live and see the world through Elena’s unconventional lens wherever you are—and leave inspired to see your own surroundings with fresh eyes. This joyful event is an invitation to loosen the rules, trust your instincts, play with possibility, and rediscover the freedom and sheer fun of being boldly creative.

Design Psychology: Transforming Place & Self—8:00-9:00 p.m. ET (5:00-6:00 p.m. PT)

In the second hour of this live, online creative journey, Toby Israel, PhD shares an exploration of Design Psychology—an approach to architecture, planning, and interior design that puts our emotional experience of place at the heart of the creative process.

Drawing on her work with renowned placemakers, Toby shares exercises from her Design Psychology Toolbox that reveal how the places of our past can quietly influence what feels meaningful, comforting, and alive to us today.

Through engaging exercises and reflection, you begin uncovering your own emotional connections to place—and discover how to translate those insights into your surroundings. Come explore how memory, feeling, and imagination can become powerful design tools for creating what Toby calls “transcendent, liberating design”—luminous, empowering spaces that authentically reflect who you are and how you want to live.

Join Teachers Studio live on Wednesday, November 18, 7:00-8:00 p.m. ET (4:00-5:00 p.m. PT) and 8:00-9:00 p.m. ET (5:00-6:00 p.m. PT). For registered participants, this class will be available on demand until May 18, 2027.

Environmental psychologist Toby Israel explores how designing from within allows you to connect emotionally with a space.
