Train to teach yoga and mindfulness to children ages 3 to 18 with Jennifer Cohen Harper, founder of Little Flower Yoga, and other experts in the field.

Little Flower Yoga teachers and students discuss what mindfulness means to them.

Little Flower Yoga (LFY) Training is a comprehensive, trauma informed program in yoga and mindfulness practices for children and youth ages 3 to 18. Registered by Yoga Alliance, and offering up to 6 optional graduate level credits* (see below), training focuses on the complete physical, mental, emotional and social well-being of students.

Since 2006 LFY has been serving NYC schools, and training educators and mental health care providers around the world to bring embodiment practices to the children and adolescents they work with. The lessons learned through LFY’s work with more than 300 schools and districts, and tens of thousands of educators, have been integrated into this program.

The foundation of this training is rooted in building your own self-awareness and deepening personal practice—after all, we can’t teach what we don’t know. From there, we equip you with a wide range of activities that you can immediately implement with the kids you work with.

You learn a clear, structured framework, based on our five element methodology, that will allow you to teach an integrated experience of yoga and mindfulness in any setting, from the classroom to the studio.

You return home with a deeper understanding of child development, the capacity and confidence to create programming that meets children’s needs, and the knowledge to teach in a safe, engaging, and compassionate way, even when things get tough.

This is a hybrid training, consisting of guided online content and a weeklong in-person immersion, and it combines Level 1 - Level 3 of the Little Flower Yoga certification program for a deeply empowering experience, rich with opportunities for your own personal practice.

It includes access to four weeks of online content prior to the in-person workshop (access opens June 30), several livestream events, and approximately 10 hours of self-paced content to be completed after the in-person workshop. Participants will gain access to the LFY Online Learning Community, which offers a rich learning experience with ongoing connection to other participants and faculty members, the capacity to ask questions and join discussions, and bonus content to support personal practice.

Included in Little Flower Yoga & Mindfulness Teacher Training

  • Four weeks of guided online content prior to the in-person workshop (approximately 2 hours per week), beginning with an orientation on June 30 and a livestream workshop on July 27.
  • Three weeks of guided online content after the in-person workshop is completed, including a livestream gathering to support integration
  • One year of access to all online course content and videos of practices

Things to Bring

Bring an open mind, comfortable clothes that you can move in, and anything you think you might need for learning. We’ll have props and training manuals―and maybe a few other surprises.

Certification & Continuing Education Credit

Certification:

Completion of this training, along with additional online components (register separately), qualifies you for LFY Certification; see littlefloweryoga.com.

Little Flower Yoga (LFY) is a Registered Children's Yoga School, which means that completion of our training qualifies participants to register with Yoga Alliance as an RCYT, subject to additional YA requirements. Registration with Yoga Alliance is subject entirely to their policies, and requires having an additional 200 hour teacher training. We suggest reviewing their requirements directly as they may be subject to change. Those not interested in Yoga Alliance registration are still eligible for Little Flower Yoga Certification.

Continuing Education Credit:

This program offers 3 graduate level credits for training participation, and 6 credits for full certification (which includes additional online components). The credits offered are post-baccalaureate, graded, graduate-level semester credits, provided directly through the University of the Pacific. They are specifically designed to meet the needs of Educators for Salary Advancement and Recertification. For more information visit littlefloweryoga.com/training.
