Barbara Annis is the founder and chief executive officer of Barbara Annis & Associates, Inc., and a world renowned expert on inclusive leadership through cultural and gender intelligence.

For nearly 30 years, Annis has advocated the value and practice of inclusive leadership in dozens of Fortune 500 companies and governments and organizations worldwide. She is coauthor most recently of Gender Intelligence: Breakthrough Strategies for Increasing Diversity and Improving Your Bottom Line. Written with Keith Merron, the book is the culmination of 27 years of gender-based research and global practice that uniquely applies cutting-edge brain-based research to the workplace.

Annis' first book, Same Words, Different Language, offers insights and proven methods for breaking gender barriers. In her following book, Leadership and the Sexes, she reveals the latest brain-behavior research on gender differences. Her 2013 book, Work with Me: The 8 Blind Spots between Men and Women in Business, coauthored with John Gray, exposes the blind spots that lay at the heart of our miscommunications, misunderstandings, and frustrations at our workplace and in our personal lives.

Annis is chair emeritus and member of the executive committee of the Women’s Leadership Board at Harvard Kennedy School, and was recently conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Alliance for Women.

Her extensive studies have included work with exceptional thinkers such as famed psychologist Virginia Satir; Fernando Flores, director of the doctoral program in linguistics at Berkeley University; and Willis Harman, founder and president of the Noetic Sciences Foundation.
