As a member of the International Indigenous Youth Council and as an activist, community organizer, and Jicarilla Apache, Danita Ordaz works to decolonize the education systems, particularly in institutions of higher education.

She serves as a retention specialist in the Native American Cultural Center in Fort Collins, Colorado, and is a mentor to high school and college level students. Ordaz also runs several college access summer programs with an indigenous focus.

She has worked in her local community as a native womxn's circle coordinator and has also helped coordinate annual food sovereignty projects.

Ordaz has served as a sexual assault victim advocate to help people of color navigate the legal systems and health resources.
