Don Jose Ruiz was born in the throbbing heart of Mexico City. Guided by the stalwarts of his family—his father, his mother, and his grandmother Sarita, alongside several naguals or spiritual guides, Jose embarks on a spiritual journey beyond the ordinary.
Through the masterful teachings of his mentors and an uncanny synchronicity of life experiences, Jose encounters “silent knowledge”—an ability to perceive the world in its purest form, without any stories or preconceived notions.
But life, with its bittersweet symphony, struck him hard in his early twenties when he lost his sight. Instead of breaking down, Jose surrendered to this challenge, leaning into the soft whispers of his inner wisdom and integrity. He learned to dance to the rhythms of different perspectives and found the courage to understand that nothing in life is personal.
Jose’s story takes a miraculous turn when he regains his sight through a harmonious blend of his steadfast faith and the wonders of modern medicine. This extraordinary journey gave him a profound understanding of faith, love, gratitude, and humility. It led him to a rejuvenated love and gratitude for life and brought him to a state of pure bliss.
Like his father Don Miguel Ruiz, Jose dedicated his life to translating ancient Toltec wisdom into practical, relatable life concepts that inspire personal transformation through truth, love, and common sense. His teachings have made ripples worldwide, from the United States to the pyramids of Teotihuacan, Palenque, Tulum, and Coba.
In collaboration with his father, Jose penned a fresh perspective on their teachings through The Fifth Agreement, the sequel to The Four Agreements, helping us rediscover the authenticity we were born with and ultimately reminding us of the most magnificent gift we can give ourselves—the freedom to be authentic.
